The Worst Thing About Grande Prairie

Updated: May 18, 2022

Do you know what is the worst thing about working in Grande Prairie, AB? Is it cold long winters? Ice and snow? Minus 40 degrees temperatures? Rust? Remoteness? Cost of living?

Nope, all that I can tolerate, more or less. The thing that drives me mad is MESS. I'd say we have the worst sort of mud in the entire world. It is a goddamn clay, so it sticks like glue, penetrates everywhere, hardens like concrete, and if knocked off, it turns into the finest dust. It gets the worst in winter when after spending another hour making the shop at least somewhat clean, the next car rolls in, thaws out... and I'm back with all this mess on the floor!

Summer is only marginally better. As long as it doesn't rain, it is only dust everywhere.

I'd love to have a spotless shop all the time, I really do. But here, in Grande Prairie, keeping it that way is a never-ending battle.

Guess what is the most expensive piece of equipment in my shop (so far anyway)? It is a hot pressure washer. Yep, to keep the shop and things in it as clean as possible is an expensive enterprise...
